WBE Appointed Interim Co-Lead Counsel in Amazon Tying Scheme Antitrust Lawsuit

11.27.2023

On Monday, November 27 2023, U.S. District Judge John H. Chun of the Western District of Washington appointed attorneys from WBE to serve as interim co-lead counsel and consolidated two proposed class actions that raise antitrust claims against Defendant Amazon.

In his order, Judge Chun appointed attorneys from WBE, Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy, LLP, Gustafson Gluek PLLC, Terrell Marshall Law Group PLLC, and Taus, Cebulash & Landau, LLP as interim co-lead counsel, with WBE serving as Chair of the co-lead group.

Judge Chun also approved Plaintiffs’ motion to consolidate actions, moving to group the two separate matters (Hogan v. Amazon.com, Inc., No. 2:21-cv-00996-JHC and Hopper v. Amazon.com, Inc., No. 2:23-cv-01523) under the existing case number for Hogan.

WBE and co-counsel filed this case in the Western District of Washington, alleging that the company violated antitrust laws by using its monopoly‑level power to force third‑party sellers to purchase Amazon’s expensive Fulfillment (logistics) services in order to gain favorable placement on Amazon’s website.
